CT-GENTLY app for iPhone and iPad

CT Gently is a mobile tool that can be used to estimate radiation doses to the organs from CT and CBCT scans based on a person’s anatomic information and scan mode. In addition, it can be used to compare optimized mAs and kVp settings with reference settings for personalized low-dose CT and CBCT scans.

With the user’s input of gender, age, weight and corresponding circumference at three anatomic sites (i.e., head, chest and abdomen), CT Gently can generate comparative results both quantitatively and graphically on the organ doses and the associated cancer risks between the reference and the optimized settings for a specific CT or CBCT scan.

With the concern of dose reduction in CT and CBCT scans among the clinicians and the general public, CT Gently may help increase the awareness about the safe and appropriate application of medical imaging in the clinic with improved benefit-to-risk ratio in the long run.
